Gym anxiety is real. Walking into a place where everyone else seems to know what they're doing, where to go, and what the equipment is called — while you're just trying to figure out where the bathroom is — is genuinely uncomfortable.

Here's a complete walkthrough of what happens when you come to Longevity Athletics in Maricopa for the first time, so you know exactly what to expect before you walk in.

Quick note: New members don't start with a regular group class. Everyone starts with a Free Intro session — a private 45-minute session with a coach before you join any classes. This is how we learn your goals and make sure the program fits you.

What Happens at the Free Intro

Your Free Intro is a one-on-one session with a coach. Here's exactly what happens:

01

You arrive — no pressure

Park in the free lot directly in front of Suite D-2A at 20924 N John Wayne Pkwy. Walk in. Someone will greet you by name — we'll know who's coming. There's no sign-in kiosk, no paperwork pile, just a person.

02

Goal review with a coach

You'll sit down with your coach for 10–15 minutes. They'll ask about your goals, your current fitness level, any injuries or limitations, and your schedule. This is a real conversation — not a sales pitch. The coach is trying to understand whether we can genuinely help you and what that would look like.

03

InBody body composition scan

You'll step on the InBody scanner for about 60 seconds. It measures your body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, and body composition. You'll get a printed report to keep. This is your baseline — so when you come back in 8 weeks, you can see exactly what changed.

04

Movement check

Your coach will walk you through a few basic movement patterns — squat, hinge, push, pull. Not to judge you, but to see where you are today so they can coach you appropriately in sessions. This takes 5–10 minutes.

05

Intro training session

You'll actually train — a scaled version of a real session. You'll get a feel for the coaching style, the equipment, and the workout format. The coach will modify everything to your current level. You'll leave knowing what a session actually feels like, not just what it looks like from the outside.

06

Program recommendation

At the end, your coach will tell you which program they'd recommend for your goals — whether that's group training, 1-on-1, semi-private, or a combination. They'll walk you through the options with full clarity on pricing. No pressure, no deadline, no hard close. You decide on your own timeline.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable workout clothes you can move in
  • Athletic shoes (no open-toed footwear on the gym floor)
  • A water bottle if you have one — we have water on-site
  • Nothing else — don't overthink it

What You Don't Need to Worry About

Your fitness level. Every single person who walks in starts somewhere. The coach's job is to meet you where you are, not where they wish you were. Members range from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Nobody is judging.

Knowing anything in advance. You don't need to know how to use equipment, how to do a deadlift, or what a macro is. The coach explains everything as you go.

Committing to anything. The Free Intro is exactly that — free, and with zero obligation. You might come in and decide it's not for you, and that's completely fine. We'd rather you make a decision you're confident in than one you second-guess.

What Happens After

If you decide to join, you'll schedule your first regular sessions that day. Within a week or two, you'll have a coach who knows your name, a program that fits your goals, and a group of people who expect to see you.

Most members say the biggest surprise is how quickly it stops feeling like a chore — because when someone's coaching you and a community is expecting you, showing up becomes the default, not the exception.
